(Rio de las Vueltas River Valley, Lago del Desierto)
This excursion starts and ends in El Chaltén, it can be half day or full day, oriented to both beginners and advanced anglers. No previous experience or equipment is needed to do it.
If the passengers arrive the day before, our fishing guide will come to the hotel where they are staying to have a brief chat, clear up any last minute doubts, check fishing permits, check the equipment and clothing to take and coordinate the departure time.
In the morning, passengers will be picked up at the hotel to take route 41, a gravel road all the way to Lago del Desierto, going up the winding De las Vueltas river.
If the passengers do not have fishing experience, this excursion includes an intensive training to acquire fishing techniques.The De Las Vueltas River has been home to Brown and Rainbow trout for several decades and is a spawning ground for the majestic Chinook salmon (with specimens weighing up to 25 kg).
In this fishing excursion, you have the option of fishing for these species, fly fishing or spinning rod fishing all day long in a wonderful environment, always accompanied by a team of guides specialized in the area.
At lunch time, usually a stop is made at Lago del Desierto, where you have the opportunity to improve your technique in shallow waters and clear of nearby groves, while preparing a delicious barbecue (vegetarian or allergic options are available).
This river has meltwater with deep pools and strong currents. The outing is always adapted to physical conditions and preferences.
Lago del Desierto is fed by several streams from the majestic glaciers that surround it. It is home to Brown and Rainbow trout, and the ideal place for fly fishing. After lunch you will have the option to go back to fishing in the lake or practice some shots in the Rio de Las Vueltas.
The minimum age to take part in this excursion is 13 years old.
